Travel Emergency Medical Insurance
If you are planning to travel to another country for a vacation or to visit friends or relatives, a weekend getaway, day trip or even just a cross-border to the USA for a few shopping hours, take a few minutes to consider how much you could lose if you or a family member became injured or ill while travelling and you do not have Travel Emergency Medical Insurance.
For a few dollars per day (depending on the age) $5 million coverage can be provided to give a peace of mind during the travel.
Travel Emergency Medical Insurance should be considered even when traveling to other provinces and territories within Canada, as there are numerous medical services that government health insurance plans (MSP in BC) do not cover such as:
• Ambulance - land and air
• Private and semi-private hospital rooms
• Family transportation to bedside
• And more
Visitors or new immigrants Medical Emergency Insurance
If you are expecting friends or family to visit from another country, they will not be covered under any government health insurance plan. You can help protect your visitors against financial hardship resulting from a medical emergency with Visitors to Canada Medical Emergency Insurance.
A temporary visit to another country such as to the USA is also covered (excluding your country of origin) as part of your trip, however this temporary visit may not exceed 49% of the trip's total duration.
This plan is also available for new immigrants who are awaiting government health insurance plan coverage.
International Student Emergency Medical Plan
If you are an international student studying in Canada, the International Student Emergency Medical Plan will provide a coverage of $2 million at $1.50 per day.
Parents or spouses who travel with the student can also be covered under this plan.
